Gov. Newsom Appoints Amy Tong as GovOps Secretary

Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed Amy Tong as the new Secretary of the Government Operations Agency (GovOps), according to a Monday press release.  “With her keen focus on creating a culture of innovation, commitment to public service and proven track record, Director Tong’s leadership is integral to continue implementing our vision for bringing government technology into the 21st century with more accessible, responsive services to meet the needs of Californians,” Gov. Newsom said in the release.

Governor announces key energy agency appointments

Gov. Newsom made several appointments to key energy agencies this week.  Darcie Houck to the CPUC, Sivia Gunda to the California Energy Commission, and Mary Leslie and Jan Schiori to the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) Board. Details of the announcement included: Darcie Houck, 51, of Davis, has been appointed to the California Public Utilities Commission. Houck has served as Chief Counsel for the California Energy Commission since 2019. Christman appointed to oversee California’s public health data operation

Veteran data expert and former department CIO Scott Christman has been appointed to oversee California’s public health data operation, the program that tracks birth, death and marriage certifications, among other things.  The announcement came after last week's high-profile COVID-19 data reporting glitch that reportedly cost the Public Health Director her job. FI$Cal Names New Chiefs of Project Management and Information Security Office

FI$Cal, the state’s billion-dollar Enterprise Resource Planning application project, announced in their May 6 newsletter that they have filled two chief positions within the Information Technology Division. Latha Narayan has been hired as the chief of the Project Management Office. Gerard Laygui has been hired as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Governor Newsom Reappoints Amy Tong as CDT Director

Gov. Newsom on Thursday announced the reappointment of Amy Tong as CDT Director: Amy S. H. Tong, 46, of Elk Grove, has been reappointed director of the California Department of Technology, where she has served as director since 2016. Tong was acting director at the California Department of Technology in 2016.

GovOps Secretary Marybel Batjer Appointed CPUC President

Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday announced the appointment of Marybel Batjer to serve as president of the California Public Utilities Commission. Batjer will first conclude her work this month leading the DMV Strike Team effort which the governor appointed her upon taking office. Batjer was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to serve as the first secretary of the Government Operations Agency in 2013 that was organized to include the California Technology Agency, now called the California Department of Technology.
