TechCA and the California Center for Government Innovation will host the fourth annual Emerging Technologies Forum on October 15 at Aggie Square, Sacramento’s innovation district on the UC Davis Sacramento campus near Stockton Boulevard.

The forum will once again bring together government and industry leaders to explore emerging technologies and new approaches to public-sector innovation. Topics will include government modernization, digital service delivery, technology procurement, data modernization, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and successful state initiatives that are transforming government operations.

This year’s forum will be held earlier than in previous years because California will elect a new governor in November, beginning an important period of transition for state government.

Event organizers will soon open a call for proposals for government and industry experts to propose sessions and lightning talks, which will be reviewed by a committee of state government leaders to select presentations that reflect the priorities, challenges and initiatives of California programs.

The lightning-talk format has produced some of the forum’s most engaging and unexpected presentations, highlighting practical ideas from industry experts and government programs that are modernizing how California operates.

Previous forums have featured keynote presentations by leaders from the California Department of Technology, the California Office of Data and Innovation, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the California Natural Resources Agency, and the California Health and Human Services Agency, among others. Programs have also included panel discussions with state innovation leaders and lightning talks introducing new technologies and approaches for government to consider.

The CCGI will also present findings from its recent Statewide Survey on Technology Procurement.

This year’s more intimate venue is designed to create an open and relaxed environment where attendees can focus on the program and engage in meaningful discussions.
