The California Office of Data and Innovation (ODI) announced on Thursday they have created a new community that will highlight innovation across state government.
ODI said the formation of the Innovation Community of Practice, will “[spotlight] and [amplify] the innovation happening throughout the State of California,” according to a LinkedIn post.
The community will promote and teach innovation across all state departments–not limited to technology.
“The Community promotes . . . sharing successes [and] enabling state staff to drive innovation and career advancement.”
Open to all state employees, the new group will hold a meeting on April 18 that will include a presentation as well as a question and answer-session.
Originally the Office of Digital Innovation created in Gov. Newsom’s first budget upon taking office, ODI provides statewide guidance and operational support to state departments, developing user research and innovation services for departmental use, and coordinating California’s data strategy across state government.
In February, Newsom appointed Nolwenn Godard to serve as the office’s second director.
