Exploring Blockchain’s Potential in Benefits Delivery

Published On: March 26, 2026

At the Forum on Emerging Technologies and Government Modernization, Tyler Gentry, founder of Need Aid and a strategic advisor to the Stellar Development Foundation, outlined how blockchain-based payment tools could help modernize the delivery of government benefits. Drawing on his experience during the pandemic, Gentry said traditional prepaid card systems often fell short due to fraud, lost cards, failed delivery, and unused funds.

He argued that Stablecoin digital dollars delivered through digital wallets could offer a faster, more flexible, and more transparent alternative. According to Gentry, these tools could help agencies reduce administrative friction, improve accountability, and expand financial access for underserved populations.
