Blake spoke primarily about Inclusive by Design, a group of individuals within CHHS that are collaborating to promote and ensure systemic justice within state departments.

“We are interviewing and speaking to at least seven of our largest departments,” Blake said. “That team is on a mission to look at the elements of inequality, starting with health [and] identifying ways to implement racial equity.”

Inclusive by Design, says Blake, is led by California Surgeon General Dr. Nadine Burke Harris and has partnered with the California Strategic Growth Council, which passed the Racial Equity Resolution on Aug. 26.
