Retired state technology executive Andrea Wallin-Rohmann is now Interim CIO / Special Consultant at the California Department of Parks and Recreation, she confirmed.
“This has provided me an opportunity to stay involved post-retirement and play a role in the continued improvement of government services. To do this at a dynamic department that runs a park system that features amazing places is truly a reward,” she said in a message to TechCA.
Over the next few months, she is recruiting to fill three critical IT management vacancies, including CIO and CTO, Wallin-Rohmann said.
She served as the Clerk / Administrator for the State Court of Appeals, Third District, for seven years. From 2014 to 2016, Rohmann was chief deputy director for policy at the California Department of Technology.
Starting in 2004, she served as deputy director for HR, CIO, and project director at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Rohmann retired from state service in January 2023.
She takes over the position from Shari Shintaku who served after longtime CIO Patrick Dennis left state service in 2022.
The department’s mission is to “provide for the health, inspiration, and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state’s extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation,” according to it’s website.
State Parks is currently soliciting bids for a NextGen Recreation Services and Reservation System.
